City of York Housing
Design Passivhaus
253 low-rise homes across 4 sites in design/construction for the Council
Following our successful collaboration on Goldsmith Street, we were thrilled to continue working with Mikail Riches, enabling us to continually evolve the lessons learned from previous shared work. The work spans four sites; Duncombe Barracks & Burnholme Green currently under construction with Caddick Construction, with Ordanance Lane and Willow House in design phase. We are providing Passivhaus consultancy including upfront (embodied) and whole life energy consultancy as well as post occupancy monitoring. The City of York's environmental vision aligns with our own, allowing us to refine our approach to aspirational sustainability targets that will shape future building standards.
Low rise housing is one of the toughest to achieve good performance for a reasonable cost, so optimisation is critical. We’ve developed a PHPP plug-in that allows us to quickly assess the impact of changes across multiple models in parallel; we can identify optimal energy savings across the entire site while not losing focus on individual dwelling performance. Modelling energy, daylighting and summer comfort in parallel allows us to give well rounded advice to our clients.
